Brief Biographical Sketch:

Andrew is a mediocre swing dancer, an amateur vexillologist, and first year PhD student in the MIT Nuclear Science and Engineering department. In his research, he uses machine learning techniques to aid in the quest for sustainable fusion energy. Andrew wishes his undergrad physics degree from Carleton College would have helped him become a better ultimate frisbee player. On the plus side, he did learn some cool stuff that he will share at MIT Splash!

The old adage goes: "believe half of what you see and none of what you hear." Indeed, sight plays a central role in how we navigate our lives. In this class, we explore the ways in which the nature of color and light can enable - or fool - our perception. We will touch on physics, philosophy, and aesthetics.
