Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hopefully you'll find this material as fun for you as it is for me!

Past Classes

(Clicking a class title will bring you to the course's section of the corresponding course catalog)

X7836: Introduction to the Stock Market in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Heard of the Stock Market, but unsure what it’s all about? Curious how the stock market’s performance impacts you every day? Find out why companies issue stock, what drives prices and some basic investing strategies. This course will feature a 90 minute lecture. We'll then break into teams and you'll get 15 minutes to organize before we turn the lecture hall into the floor of the stock exchange and for the next 60 minutes, you'll compete against other teams to generate the highest return on an initial $1,000,000 bankroll. The pressure is on, because each trading day is only 60 seconds long! Note: This course is designed for students with no background in the stock market!

X6091: Introduction to the Stock Market in Splash! 2012 (Nov. 17 - 18, 2012)
Heard of the Stock Market, but unsure what it's all about? Curious how the stock market's performance impacts you every day? Find out why companies issue stock, what drives prices and some basic investing strategies. Following the lecture portion of this class, we'll run an in-class computer simulation to see who can generate the highest return on an initial $1,000,000 bankroll. Note: This course is designed for students with little to no background in the stock market, so if you're looking sexy new ways to calculate exposure to time-value decay with delta, theta, vega and gamma, this course is not for you!
