Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hiya! My name is Avril, and I'm a sophomore here at MIT studying in the EECS (lovingly pronounced "eeeeks!") department. I've loved to learn for as long as I can remember, and I especially love learning about hard things, which usually turn out to be the most exciting! This summer, I'd really like to pass that excitement down to you kiddos, who might end up doing the same thing someday :,)

In my free time, I like to write, workout (there is a shockingly high buff population at MIT), and listen to/ obsessively collect music. In my sort-of-free time I UROP (do undergrad research). I have particular interests in neuroscience, electronics, and the intersection between the two. If you care about any of this, feel free to bring it up! Especially if you have any recommendations because I have no idea what the kids are listening to these days...OR DO I... :D

E15648: Circuits Analysis 101 in HSSP Summer 2023 (Jul. 09, 2023)
Ever looked at exposed electrical wire and thought “gee, I wonder what would happen if I touched that”? Well you’re not the only one! But instead of sending myself to an early grave and saving my parents college tuition, I decided to study what happens in those wires instead! In Circuits 101, you’ll learn all about what happens in the circuits those wires connect to, how to read the diagrams, and you'll even get to breadboard a couple of gadgets! We’ll start from the very, very beginning assuming no previous exposure to circuits (except for maybe ohm’s law, if you remember that from a science class at one point) and keep going until you can draw and build (at least basic) schematics of your own! Sound better than getting electrocuted? Only one way to find out!
