* Shakerknitting
* Texture patterns
* Knitting twisted
* Openwork/lace knitting
* Finishing your work (weaving in loose ends and blocking)

Exact topics will be determined based on student interest. Bring your own project if you'd like because most of the class will be hands-on practicing the topics we learn.
C11162: Machine Learning Workshop in Splash 2016 (Nov. 19 - 20, 2016)
Hear what all the buzz is about! We'll go over some basic machine learning techniques and then you'll apply them to build predictive models from data.
A note on prerequisites: It is very important to have the prereqs for this class because you will spend a lot of the class working individually on a project. You should be able comfortable reading and modifying other people's code. It will be hard to participate otherwise!

X9431: Hands-on Teaching Lab in HSSP Spring 2015 (Feb. 21, 2015)
You're an HSSP student... do you want to be an HSSP teacher, too?
This is an experimental program where you get to teach younger HSSP students, instead of taking a class this block. This is NOT a regular HSSP class. We will train you and help you brainstorm your classes, but for the majority of HSSP you get to teach anything you want!
IMPORTANT: Enrollment in this class is by application-only. To apply, send an email to spring-hssp@mit.edu and tell us why you want to take this class and any ideas you have for classes (none is also okay!). You do not have to sign up here -- we'll enroll you if your application is accepted.
A9229: Blind Circumambulation of a Large Fabric Cube in Spark 2015 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2015)
In the cold of winter, let your creative side bloom as we play games and explore the fragmentation of memory.
L9433: The Marble-ously Oolite-ful World of Fossils in Spark 2015 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2015)
Want to know the tooth about fossils? Of quartz you do!
In this class we shale let ancient organisms teach us about what the Earth was like when they were alive. Granite, they're a little sedimentary now and don't get out much, but their remains are gneiss clues that can tell us a lot about where they lived, what they did, ore how they died.
W8900: Kindergarten in Splash 2014 (Nov. 22 - 23, 2014)
Have you been spending Splash running from one advanced math class to another? Do you miss Kindergarten, when you would spend all day coloring and building with blocks? So do we! Take a break from learning philosophy or physics, and come join us in Splash Kindergarten. There will be legos, coloring, snack time, and more.
S8215: Spectacular Spectroscopy in Spark 2014 (Mar. 15 - 16, 2014)
Have you ever wondered how astronomers know which elements make up stars? Or how scientists identify unknown substances? Spectroscopy is an important tool that can help us do both of those things, and more. Come learn how it all works and build your own handheld spectroscope.
S8216: Shedding Light on Lasers in Spark 2014 (Mar. 15 - 16, 2014)
The year is 2020 and robots are taking over the world. Everyone is in panic, everyone, that is, except for you. You came to Spark 2014 and learned all about lasers. You learned about how lasers generate light and how that light is different from normal light. You also learned about the different kinds of lasers and their applications. Including lasers so powerful that they can burn through sheets of metal! You run to your secret lab in your basement and build a giant robot-killing laser weapon! ...or maybe you realize 2 steps down the stairs that such a weapon was utterly impractical given the supplies at hand.
No matter, maybe the robots will be so impressed by your ingenuity that their creator will spare you and make you his partner.
M8082: How to write a proof in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Sick of those boring 2-column proofs you learned in Geometry? Come step into the world of induction and contradiction. We will discuss basic proof methods through a survey of classical proofs, including the irrationality of $$\sqrt{2}$$, the pythagorean theorem, and the infinitude of primes.
M6917: Fun with Vectors: An Introduction to Linear Algebra in HSSP Spring 2013 (Mar. 02, 2013)
You know how to add and multiply numbers, but numbers can only get you so far. Dive into the exciting world of linear algebra where quantities have both magnitudes and directions. In this class we will cover the basics of vectors and matrices, along with some cool applications.
H7080: Introduction to Latin in Spark! 2013 (Mar. 16, 2013)
Come learn the fundamentals of the Latin language! We'll start with a bit of vocabulary, and then go over some grammar so you can use the words you've learned.
