Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm a freshman and super excited to be at MIT. I'm from Utah, and I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters, all younger than me. Something you already know about me now from the previous sentence is I don't care about grammar.

My favorite thing to do is knit or crochet while I watch TV (I have been known to crochet models of the characters in my favorite TV shows!).

I'm also a very decisive person - I've narrowed down my list of possible majors to 2 (Engineering), 6 (Computer Science), 8 (Physics), or 18 (Math), or possibly some other field ... okay ... maybe I don't have the major thing figured out yet ... I'll get there eventually.

What I do know is, I love using LabVIEW and trying to convince other people that it doesn't deserve it's bad rep. I'm currently using LabVIEW in my UROP to program an automated miniature pharmaceutical plant (basically I'm just making drugs) - but I don't anything about chemistry - I just program what the chemists tell me to.

I live in Random Hall and I love it there - love just about everything at MIT.

C9933: How To Program A Factory in Splash 2015 (Nov. 21 - 22, 2015)
In this course, we will talk about how to program BIG things - things that are really complex, like entire factories or research systems. We won't focus on any particular programming language, but rather on principles that you can use for the rest of your (engineering) life to program all kinds of systems in whatever language you choose. Topics include: object oriented programming, inheritance, and the actor model.

The world is controlled by computers - but how? How do you write a program on your computer that interacts with the real world? In this class I will teach you the programming of real world systems from the basics and show demos using real hardware!


M6868: LabVIEW Programming in HSSP Spring 2013 (Mar. 02, 2013)
Do you want to write a program to do your math homework for you, create your own computer game, or control a robot? In this class you'll learn how to do all of these things! We will start off learning basic programming skills (no prior knowledge is necessary), and by the end of the class you will have the ability to create all kinds of programs that can make your life better.

Do you have an idea for what you want a robot to do (or any kind of automated system) to make your life better? In this class we will learn how to develop an idea for a robot and how to use computers to automate your robot.

You've probably heard of this fancy "The Calculus" stuff, right? Everybody says it's super complicated and stuff, right? But Calculus is a really interesting subject and you can learn it, yes you! My promise to you: you will understand this class, and then you too will be a super fancy math person.

You know that opposite ends of magnets attract, and you know that static electricity can make your hair stand up. But did you know that these two things are both examples <b>the same</b> a single physical force? It is called electromagnetism. In this class we will learn about what makes magnets attract, how electricity works and more.

Do you want to make cool games for you and your friends? A program that does your math homework? A robot that does your chores? We will learn how to at least start off doing each these in LabVIEW! No programming experience is necessary - we will start from the very beginning.

Heard about LabVIEW and think it sucks? Well, come learn some ways LabVIEW pwns your favorite text based language. Seriously, though, come learn fancy programming topics like parallel threads (multiple "lines" of code running at once), and nice user interface creation - you'll be surprised what cool stuff you can code in LabVIEW!


A6160: Not Your Grandma's Crocheting Class in Splash! 2012 (Nov. 17 - 18, 2012)
Are you tired of learning how to make a boring hat? In this class you will vote on your favorite TV show character (live action or cartoon, anything you want!). Then I'll teach you the basic crochet stitch, we will design a pattern, and the whole class will work together to make that character out of yarn!


H6747: Mormon FAQ in Splash! 2012 (Nov. 17 - 18, 2012)
Mitt Romney, David Archuleta, and Thomas S. Monson: what do these people have in common? They are all Mormon. (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) But what exactly do Mormons believe? In this class, we'll learn about the culture of Mormons, their history, and what their differences and similarities are to other Christian religions, and answer any questions you might have, especially in light of the Church's scene in current politics.
