The theory of probability is full of fun puzzles, a lot of which have amazingly short and intuitive proofs. One essential tool for solving many such problems is using the linearity of expectation. We're going to explore puzzles where this fact plays a central point in the solutions. More importantly, we're going to have fun and we're going to eat candy!

We will look at some fun probability puzzles and paradoxes, and if there's time, we will play some fun games involving some math.

Nothing scary - we will go over some fun paradoxes and play some games involving gambling candy (no need to bring your own candy).

We will go over the field of mathematical and computational linguistics, look at problems from NACLO and discuss participating in high school competitions and Olympiads on national and international level.

Can you solve the following question? On average, how many times must a die be thrown so that one gets a 6? Yes? Nice. No? It's fine, you can still come. We will just play around with some fun probability puzzles and paradoxes.
