Brief Biographical Sketch:

After I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004, I spent a year teaching and another as a graduate student at Vanderbilt University. During the 2006 midterm elections, I was recruited as a strategist in a campaign for the Georgia House of Representatives and as a policy researcher for several ballot referenda. Presently a law student since 2007, I have worked with state party organizers in the 2008 Presidential Primary and General elections.

I think the last two presidential races are sharp examples of how political campaigns at the field level and the campaign level differ dramatically, and offer us valuable lessons on the mechanics of electoral success. I look forward to exchanging our insights on these lessons.

S1817: Political Strategy in Splash! 2008 (Nov. 22 - 23, 2008)
The news networks watch the speeches and report on anecdotes and trivia, but what really goes on in a campaign organization? How do political parties identify their supporters, plan a message calendar and plot winning strategies? This course will focus especially on the ground game - what happens in field offices nationwide, far from the candidates and under the CNN radar. If you've been following the ins and outs of punditry, this is the perfect next step: become an armchair campaign manager!
