Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm from Bangkok, Thailand for the first 18 whole years of my life. I spent a post-grad year at Deerfield. I am now an MIT freshman.

Computer science has been my passion. I've done a lot of programming and went to the IOI (International Olympiad in Informatics). I also spent a lot of time tutoring and teaching --- I was called up to tutor in front of the class since I was in Grade 5, and I've taught in various subject matter, including math and computer science.

I'm addicted to puzzles, game shows, and Mega Man.

V7540: Designing Fonts in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Designing fonts can be an interesting hobby, but to get a complete and beautiful font can be quite an ordeal. In addition to drawing hundreds of individual glyphs, one need to consider the interaction of those letters to make sure that they are cohesive and legible. This class will be half lecture and half lab. We won't have time to complete a full set of fonts and we will not focus on putting fonts in digital form, but we will know where to start.

We will explore several aspects of various game shows from ”The $64 Question” on the radio, the famous ”Come on down!” from ”The Price is Right”, the scandal of ”Twenty-One”, the reality boom of ”Survivor”, to the game show’s down time where only a couple of staples stay on air. We will learn, we will watch, and we will play! Game shows. Making random Americans rich since the 1920s.


W7746: Math Scrabble in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Imagine a version of Scrabble where players form equations instead of words. Although there are some of these sold in the US market, they are hard to play and not very popular. However, in some countries, this game is polished, standardized, and people actually play this game in national tournaments. We'll play one such tournament-level version. It'll be fun. Did I mention we'll do it life-sized?


A7269: Infographics and Visual Design in HSSP Summer 2013 (Jul. 07, 2013)
Infographics are everywhere. They can present data in an easy-to-understand manner, but at times they can be outright deceptive. This class will teach you some basics of creating graphics using computers, like how to select appropriate fonts and colors. More importantly, you will lean how to portray information the way you want, whether it's being honest or trying to make people think a certain way.

Typography and Typesetting are about arranging text into a piece of publication, which is in no way simple. It is about choosing fonts, size, spacing, and everything. Modern word processors have made publication accessible to anyone with computers, while taking some beauty away from this extremely delicate craft. Take this course to learn about the basics of typography and typesetting! We will look into publications at different levels: glyphs, lines, paragraphs, and pages. We will learn how to maximize beauty while preserving readability and legibility. We will explore how technology has transformed the era of good old press into the age of digital typography.

Slides (PowerPoint or whatever office software suite you prefer) are a powerful tool in giving presentations. This class will give you some DOs and DON'Ts, but it will focus on how to use powerful visuals to get your message across. (infographics included) Feel free to bring your slides for critique. No computer needed.

We will talk about different aspects of character design: appearance, traits, personality, and backstory influence.

After this course, you will know how not to be a “farang” clown saying words used by opposite gender.

You've also put all the sounds, buttons, transitions and animations of somersaulting cars in your presentation. And you still wonder why it doesn't look very nice. That's not the way professionals do it. Come here to learn how. We'll talk about content organizing and basic typographical elements that would help you make your documents and presentations look more ''professional''. Computers not necessary. You can bring one (or more) if you'd like to try some of the features on your office software suite. (Microsoft Office, iWork, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or whatever you have)

You will write your own name in Thai trying to put characters together yourself.
