S7797: Abnormal Psychology - Truth and Fiction in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Ever wonder if ADHD is real? What does it actually mean when someone has schizophrenia? Does the insanity defense really work? All these questions and more will be asked and answered during this course!

S7798: Everything you know about the human body is wrong. (Mostly) in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Did you know we only use 10% of our brains? Your tongue is mapped according to taste, with sugar at the tip and bitter at the back. If you give a little kid candy, he'll start bouncing off the walls. These are all myths that permeate popular culture and show up in the average kindergarten classroom. This course will help expose some myths and show how certain biases help create them.

H5335: Abnormal Psychology - Truth and Fiction in Splash! 2011 (Nov. 19 - 20, 2011)
Ever wonder if ADHD is real? What does it actually mean when someone has schizophrenia? Does the insanity defense really work? All these questions and more will be asked and answered during this course!

H5336: True Lies - Our Terrifying Judicial System in Splash! 2011 (Nov. 19 - 20, 2011)
Did you know that police can get innocent people to confess to crimes 90% of the time? How about that something as simple as wearing glasses can increase the chances that you'll be found innocent of a crime? This course will look at all the peculiar, scientific, and downright terrifying ways in which our judicial system (doesn't) work. From bogus police practices to missing evidence to (supposedly) mind-controlling the jury, this will be a journey through the terrifying mess that is our judicial system.

S3918: Sensation and Perception in Splash! 2010 (Nov. 20 - 21, 2010)
Seeing (and hearing) is most definitely not believing. The human sensory apparatus does not exactly transfer the world around us into our brains and awareness. Instead, only a select portion of the environment is perceived, let alone processed. This class will cover the basics of sensation and perception, including vision and attention, with an emphasis on neural and cognitive components.

S3919: Topics in Abnormal Psychology in Splash! 2010 (Nov. 20 - 21, 2010)
Depression. Schizophrenia. ADHD. These common mental illnesses are a source of great controversy. Are they biological? How responsible should people be for their actions if they're mentally ill? What about neurological malfunctions, such as Alzheimer's Disease or amnesia? This course will explore the phenomenon, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illnesses, as well as a debate about the role of mental health in the workplace, at school, and in the legal system.
